Our Folding Kayaks

Currently all of our designs allow for the maximum options in color and design. Allowing the kayak to be left open or closed with the deck. The deck is fastened to the hull using a Velcro strip which surrounds all sides of the kayak. The hull is available in both PU or PVC and on some models we have an option of a fitted  Stealth floor (transparent)

Our kayaks are tested and conform to EN ISO 6185-1 Type III ,A

The Deck

"Aqua Tec™" is a new durable waterproof fabric used by the outdoor industry. It has been proven to be a robust material that remains dimensionally stable in and out of the water environment. Aqua Tec™ has a 400 denier polyester woven fabric and a bonded waterproof skin during a special manufacturing process.

Aqua Tec™ is available in the following colors : Black, Grey, Yellow, Red, Blue, Navy, Green, Orange and Purple. They are available for all Challenge models.

The Hull Materials

Polyurethane Option

The Urethane hull material is made of a ballistic 1000 denier high tenacity nylon balanced weave fabric. The fabric is coated with multiple layers of polyurethane solution coat, followed by a series of additional solution coats. This unique process results in a supple fabric designed to be heat sealable and highly abrasion resistant. The hull is produced and supplied in the color black and grey.

PVC Option

The PVC hull material of a 1000 denier high tenacity nylon balanced weave fabric. The fabric is coated with layers of  PVC on both sides of the fabric.

An estimated 80% of wear and abrasion occurs along the keel and chine areas of the hull. Reinforcement strips are fitted for these sections, as standard .Should you wish to replace these strips at any time we have spare kit available*. To make a quick fix with duct tape, first clean the area with rubbing alcohol, or sand the patch and the area of the patch to be applied.

How long will the hull last ? Treated with the same care as a fibreglass hull and you will expect it to last a long time.

*(Should be fixed to the outside of the kayak only.)

Stealth Hull

An optional transparent floor panel is added that allows full on interaction with the enchanting underwater worlds below. This view is a very unique experience of kayaking .

 

Sponsons

Are air tubes are welded from urethane fabric and are inside the skin on each side of the kayak. Each sponson is easily removed for repair or replacement. Sponsons tension the skin and add to the stability of the kayak. All of our kayaks are fitted with 2 large sponsons, 1 for each side and extension tubing with valve.

The Frame

The aluminum frame is built from 6061-T6 aluminum/magnesium alloy the same material used in the aircraft industry and has been clear anodized or anodized /colored for corrosion resistance. The properties of aluminum are well known to be strong, light-weight, and resilient.

Polypropylene frame connection fittings are the most indestructible plastic fittings which helps hold the shape of the kayak when assembled. Thus making our kayaks strong and the lightest kayaks on the market.

All fasteners and hardware are either aluminum or stainless steel.

Seating

Our standard seat is made of Polyurethane as used on our hull. It is suspended on a special frame that is attached to the cross ribs. This creates a comfortable seat for all shapes and sizes of paddlers. There is an optional upgrade inflatable seat also available.
